With recent confirmation that Cleveland based Forest City Enterprises toured the Ann Arbor Pfizer plant last year, many are wondering if the site has found a new owner.  Forest City has played down the visit suggesting they look at properties all over the country, all the time.  They make no commitment to even having serious interest in the property.  However, the Forest City Science and Technology division previously completed an overhaul on the 20-acre Skokie Illinois Pfizer site which will almost double the amount of jobs lost - so they are no stranger to Pfizer properties. Last year Pfizer announced plans to close shop and hired The Stauback Company to market and sell the property.  It's not likely one large entity will utilize the whole complex.  Mixed-use redevelopment is more probable.  Pfizer's spokespeople are also keeping quiet.  They want to avoid a premature 'stirring of the pot'.  Final resolutions are believed to be a distant blip on the horizon. The University of Michigan sold 53 acres of land to Pfizer in 2003 and still retains the first option to repurchase the property if Pfizer decides to sell.  U of M would like to see the facilities devoted to life sciences and may also show up as an interested party in the long run.  So far, the future is unclear.
