Ann Arbor Ice Cube Welcomes Figure Skating Competition
Sunday, December 13, 2009
Denver Synchronicity was in town. In fact, Alabama and St Louis skaters were here too. These skaters are like marching bands in that they move around the ice to music. They all have nice formations and seem to float around and end up in the assigned spaces. I had not watched this before so found this quite entertaining.
My college room mate Sharon McHugh Funk was competing and flew out early to spend some time with me. We had a blast and quite frankly were non stop talking from day one. She skates 3 days a week to stay in shape and practice for competition. All teams perform a free skate with required well-balanced program elements. Below are pictures from the event.[gallery]
Taking a break from selling Ann Arbor Real Estate, was so fun. U.S. Figure Skating held the first U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships in 1984 and also hosted the first World Synchronized Skating Championships in 2000.
