Kerrytown Concert House presents: Danny Fox Trio
The Danny Fox Trio features original, eclectic and intricate compositions with dynamic group interplay and interaction. A mixture of jazz, chamber and rock, this trio has developed a unique sound that departs from the traditional jazz piano format and uses the roles of the instruments creatively. Composer Danny Fox’s music draws from wide influences. His compositions and improvisation are inspired by diverse elements: the quirky rhythms of a Monk tune, the dark harmonies of a Scriabin Etude or the ethereal chords of Messiaen; the funkiness of a Motown bassline, the catchiness of a Beatles tune, or the rich harmony of Duke Ellington.
The Danny Fox Trio was formed in the fall of 2008 as a vehicle for Danny's original music. Through regular rehearsals and performances, the band has forged a strong musical identity that continues to evolve. They have performed around the New York City area at venues such as Smalls Jazz Club, Iridium and Rockwood Music Hall, and have held weekly residencies at both the 92nd Street Y Tribeca and Caffe Vivaldi. The group recently toured the Northeast and is on a Midwest tour this spring. Their recently completed debut recording is set to be released in Fall 2010.
When: 8 p.m.

Kerrytown Concert House Presents: Tessa Souter
Jazz vocalist Tessa Souter has made quite a name for herself in the last decade. Her first CD, "Listen Love," won critical raves for her "crystal clear voice and diamond cut phrasing" (Philadelphia Inquirer) and "direct, soulful sound" (Village Voice). Her sophomore CD, "Nights of Key Largo," recorded on the Japanese audiophile label, Venus, with all-stars Kenny Werner, Billy Drummond, Jay Leonhart, Joel Frahm, and Trio de Paz guitarist Romero Lubambo, won the coveted Gold Disc award in January 2009's Swing Journal.
A latecomer to professional singing, after moving to New York in 1996, Souter started sitting in at jazz jams, before winning a scholarship to study at New York's Manhattan School of Music in 1998. She left to study privately with jazz vocal legend Mark Murphy, who mentored her for four years. Since her professional debut in 1999, Souter has developed into a phenomenal live performer.

Jackson Road Cruise
The Jackson Road Cruise is the first car event of the summer season.
Is it a “classic” driver in a “classy” car or a “classy” driver in a “classic” car? That’s in the eye of the beholder!
Classic Car Club of America defines “classic” as a “fine” or “distinctive” auto, either American or foreign built, produced between 1925 and 1948. For a classic license a vehicle must be: A motor vehicle, but not a reproduction thereof, manufactured at least 15 years prior to the current year which has been maintained in or restored to a condition which is substantially in conformity with manufacturer specifications and appearance. Sleek lines, elegant styling, outstanding engineering, and fine workmanship all come to mind in describing a classic vehicle. Then there are those vehicles that fit the timeline but are “mutts” and we all still love a “mutt”. So bring the family and come on down to this event and have fun!
Cost: This is a free event.
